How To Get Rid Of That Gross Smell In Your Kitchen

The smell of rotting food, moldy cheese, and other unappetizing aromas can be a real turn-off. The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in the house, so it’s no wonder that this room has an unpleasant odor. It doesn’t help that people often forget to clean their dishwasher or fridge because they’re too busy with other tasks around the house. Here are some tips on how you can eliminate those foul odors from your kitchen for good!

Clean The Dishwasher

Most people don’t think about cleaning their dishwashers until they start noticing an unpleasant smell. There’s a good reason for that – the porous interior of the dishwasher can hold on to food particles and other nasty bits, making it hard to clean out later on! Keep your dishwashing machine smelling fresh by running it through its cycle with nothing more than white vinegar or baking soda instead of soap. It might seem wasteful, but you’ll be glad when you open up those kitchen cabinets and find them free from smells!

Clear Out Your Refrigerator

If there are only some parts of your refrigerator where things begin to mold over time, then the chances are good that something is wrong with the seal. Even if you’ve got that seal fixed, there’s still a good chance that the smells are coming from somewhere else. Try keeping your fridge clean by wiping down shelves, walls, and drawers with baking soda to absorb any lingering odors! Also, keep your fridge clean by checking expiration dates on food and throwing away anything that’s gone bad.

Clean Up Dried Spills

Don’t forget about those pesky dried spills – they can hold onto odors just as well as any other kind of spill, so makes sure to wipe them down with baking soda or vinegar. You should also soak up excess moisture for these products to work effectively, which means removing all standing water from countertops if possible.

Clean Your Garbage Disposal

Your garbage disposal is another common source of foul odors. The porous interior can hold onto food particles that are then ground into tiny pieces and shot into your drain pipes, where they begin to rot in the water. To eliminate these smells, you’ll want to pour some ice cubes made from vinegar down the disposal, followed by a mixture of baking soda and dish soap. Let this combination sit for about fifteen minutes before turning on the machine, so it has time to do its work!
